Prior to leaving the hospital, you can ask to speak to a lactation specialist. This person is trained to assist you with proper latching, and sucking techniques, and help answer any questions you may have. In certain cases, nursing is not recommended, and they can help you with that as well. One special concern that can be discussed with a lactation specialist is whether to continue to breast feed if you become pregnant.
